In 2011, one hundred years will have passed since the birth of the designer Kaj Franck. Franck was one of the reformers of the basic concepts in Finnish design. His visions – even radical at the time – laid the foundations for our modern design. In addition to working as a designer for Arabia and Iittala, Franck taught the next-generation designers in the School of Art and Design. He has designed, among other things, the Teema range (originally Kilta) and the Kartio glasses that today have acquired the status of a classic and are well-known both in Finland and abroad. More information on the events of the jubilee year will be available on the internet at www.kf100.fi.
